New Recycling Cart FAQ

WHAT IS THE NEW CART RECYCLING PROGRAM?

Our community has decided to replace the smaller recycling bins that are currently used with larger wheeled recycling carts to improve our community’s recycling program at no cost to you. Wheeled recycling carts provide more room for recyclables, have a lid to prevent blowing litter, and are easier to move to the curb. All residents who currently receive curbside recycling service are receiving a new cart.


WILL COLLECTION OF MY RECYCLING CHANGE UNDER THE NEW PROGRAM?

Local Waste will continue to collect recycling on your regular recycling collection day. Your collection day is not changing.


WHEN DOES CART-BASED RECYCLING COLLECTION BEGIN?

Recycling with the new carts will begin on the next collection day immediately after you receive your new cart.


WHERE SHOULD I STORE MY NEW RECYCLING CART?

Carts can be stored in your garage, at the side of your house, or in your backyard.


WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH MY OLD RECYCLING BIN?

Local Waste will not be collecting the old bins. They are yours to keep and can be used to collect recyclables in your house or garage prior to putting them into your new cart, or for any other purpose. Just remember that Local Waste will not collect recycling from the old bins once you receive your new recycling cart.


WHAT IF I CURRENTLY RENT A CART FROM LOCAL WASTE?

Local Waste will collect the cart from your residence after the new one has been delivered. We recommend that after you receive your new cart, leave your rented cart at the curbside (empty) for pickup. If you still have your rented Local Waste cart after one week, please contact Local Waste at 614-409-9375.


IF MY CART IS MISSING OR DAMAGED, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Submit a request to info@sharontwp.us or give us a call at 614-885-5115 x402. We will repair or replace the broken or missing cart.


WHAT IF I DON'T WANT THE NEW CART?

We are asking all residents to try out your new cart for a month. If after that you do not want to keep it, you can contact info@sharontwp.us or give us a call at 614-885-5115 x402 about returning your cart. Please note that going forward, recycling will only be collected from these carts.
