Fiscal Office

Fiscal Office
The township fiscal officer is an elected official and independent of the township trustees, but by law must work closely with the trustees. The trustees hold legislative authority in the township, and the fiscal officer is responsible for ensuring Sharon Township's financial well-being. This is accomplished by ensuring funds are spent only as legally required and as appropriated by the trustees, implementing fiscal controls, and maintaining compliance with Ohio law. Our Administrative Assistant works closely with the Fiscal Officer to keep things running smoothly.
Sharon Township uses the Uniform Accounting Network (UAN) accounting and payroll systems that were developed by the Ohio Auditor of State. Over 1,500 Ohio townships, villages, and libraries use this software.
The Fiscal Officer is also tasked with maintaining many of the township’s records. Justin M. Adkins was appointed as Sharon Township Fiscal Officer on November 30, 2025, by the Sharon Township Board of Trustees. He is honored to serve the citizens of Sharon Township as their Fiscal Officer.
Budget
On February 18, 2026, the Trustees approved $4.6 million in permanent appropriations for the 2026 Fiscal Year. You can find a copy of the budget here: https://share.sharontwp.us/buckets/1/uploads/248
Reports
Audits
Ohio law requires periodic audits of every level of government, and in Sharon Township’s case, an audit every two years. The bi-annual audits are performed by either the Ohio Auditor of State or a private CPA firm.
The current Sharon Township audit was assigned to Julian & Grube through an Ohio Auditor of State contract-bid process.
The reports available for downloading are the bi-annual audit report and its management letter. Both provide information on accounting and legal compliance issues.
Current
The Fiscal Officer and Trustees are actively seeking resident feedback on which reports to publish and how frequently to publish them.
