Fiscal Officer
The Township Fiscal Officer, formerly known as the Township Clerk, is an independently elected official. While the office operates separately from the Board of Trustees, the two are required by law to work hand in hand. The Trustees hold legislative authority within the township, while the Fiscal Officer safeguards Sharon Township's financial well-being. This responsibility is carried out by ensuring that funds are spent only as legally required and as appropriated by the Trustees, implementing sound fiscal controls, managing the township's investment portfolio, and maintaining compliance with federal and state law.
The Fiscal Officer also serves as a required member of the Township Records Commission, overseeing the maintenance of many of the township's records and responding to public records requests. Our Administrative Assistant works closely with the Fiscal Officer to keep day-to-day operations running smoothly.
Justin M. Adkins was appointed Fiscal Officer by the Sharon Township Board of Trustees on November 30, 2025, to fill the remainder of a term ending March 31, 2028.
Budgets
The $4.6 million 2026 Fiscal Year appropriations budget was approved on February 18, 2026.
The $4.6 million 2027 Fiscal Year Tax/Revenue budget was approved on July 13, 2026.
Audits
Ohio law requires periodic audits of every level of government. For Sharon Township, that means an audit every two years.
These biennial audits are conducted either by the Ohio Auditor of State or by a private CPA firm selected through a competitive contract-bid process administered by the Auditor of State. Sharon Township's current audit has been awarded to Perry & Associates.

Bank Reconciliation Reports are posted monthly after being reviewed and signed by the Fiscal Officer and Trustees.
Historical
Since May 2017, residents have been able to view Sharon Township's financial data via the Ohio Treasurer of State’s Checkbook.com. Records can only be published on a yearly basis.

In December 2007, the Board of Trustees approved a resolution setting forth its policy on Public Records Requests.
